A Year in Review x 2014

2014 was:

Having Hannah throw up on my favourite pair of boots. Wandering home through an empty city at 4AM. Getting up at 5 AM and watching Canada take home gold in hockey at the Winter Olympics. Spending Valentine’s Day with all the single ladies. Waking up with hundreds of four leaf clover stickers all over me after St. Patrick’s Day. Trying to cook scalloped potatoes in a microwave in a dorm room (and failing). Staying up until the wee hours of the morning in order to watch my favourite hockey team play, despite having to wake up early for class. Finding my roommate passed out, cuddling a burrito. Feeling homesick and getting funny videos of friends back home. Finding anything and everything to do other than studying during exam time. Having my first snow days. Ryan Gosling ripping my heart out after having a baby with Eva Mendes.

Driving around in the car blaring Taylor Swift and singing at the top of our lungs. Marathoning John Hughes movies whilst eating our weight in pizza and cookie dough. Crying over cheesy movies and saying goodbye (even if it was only until Christmas or summer). Drinking so many bellinis we lost count, which made us believe doing karaoke or dancing like fools was a good idea. (It so was.) Quitting my job after three years and never feeling freer. Sleeping outside underneath the stars and watching the sunrise. Sneaking onto the beach after hours and jumping in freezing cold water, shivering all the way home. BBQ’s where we forgot to actually barbecue. Realizing I don’t have to have it all figured out. Losing touch and catching up months later to see nothing’s really changed at all. Forgiving and forgetting, or at least trying to. Creating new dreams and finding old ones again. Moving into my first ever house. Being so broke and having to live off of peanut butter sandwiches for two weeks. Sneaking into parties we weren't invited to. Screaming and kisses and tight hugs. Tears and sadness, anger and madness. Feeling hurt and alive. Having the broken pieces put together by those who always stick around. Making new friends, losing old ones and still moving on.

I'm so excited for this coming year, just thinking of all the possibilities is so exhilarating! I want to thank all those who read the blog, and also those who followed me on Bloglovin'! I have almost reached 100, which is so cool! I'm hoping to continue to get better and be able to produce much higher quality photos of outfits and such in the coming year. I want to expand on this so much, and keep pushing myself to bring this blog the best posts I can.

Here's hoping you all have the most wonderful NYE, and an even better year! I hope you'll all continue to follow me on this crazy journey. Catch 'ya on the flip side!

New Year's Eve Inspiration + Part 2

Although I'm not big on the whole idea surrounding New Year's about how you can "start fresh" and make those resolutions, I am very big on having any excuse to dress up and party with friends. I don't do the whole resolutions, as I believe any new start to a day can be used as a fresh start -- you don't just have to wait until the new year to change something, start something, or work on any goal.

New Year's generally means glitter, sparkles, good food and drinks, and dancing till midnight with my best friends. I always tend to gravitate towards golds and blacks with pops of colour. Smokey eyes with purples, browns and gold hues with a bright, bold lip. Any time I get to dress up and go out, I always consider it a challenge to just have fun with my makeup. Pinterest is a great place to search for some new ideas.

Be bold and have fun with it! Try something new this new year's, invent a new look even!

Happy New Year's, dolls!

Bubblegum Pink

I went to the mall today and bought some new jeans from American Eagle -- it was the last day of their sale for 40% off everything in the store. I saved $20, which made dodging the crowds and almost getting trampled over was totally worth it!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent most of it out with a friend and eating good food. This outfit I took a few photos of was from Friday night, when I went out to eat for dinner. The sweater is one of my absolute favourites, it's so cozy.

Happy Sunday! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful day with whomever you choose to celebrate the holidays with! I've been fooling around with my brand spankin' new camera all day and here's just a few photos from today!

I'm off to watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas and finish eating some more chocolate.

Vancouver Canucks x Dallas Stars Game

I finally got to see my boys in action last night for the first time this season! Here are some pictures from that night. Our seats were wonderful, it's so very rare to even be able to afford seats at a Vancouver Canucks game so close to the ice, so you bet we took advantage of it!

We headed downtown, grabbed a bite to eat at Triple O's, then went into the arena. I spent a whopping $8 on a beer, which I immediately regretted. I always tell myself I won't spend so much because it's absolutely ridiculous, but then once I'm there, I always do. (No self control, people!)

Anyway, we lost 2-0 to the Dallas Stars, but it was still a pretty good night!

Have a great Thursday, lovelies!

Christmas Time in the City

The tree is up! Decorations are out! I took a few photos before settling in and watching Elf last night, so here are some of those! I also figured what more perfect way to accompany these photos than with the Christmas Tag questions!

What is your favourite Christmas movie? I'm a sucker for all cheesy Christmas movies. I watch those Hallmark movies every year, even if they're sappy and ridiculous! However, I think my absolute favourite movie would be Elf, with The Santa Clause a veeeery close second.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Christmas morning! I could never sleep on Christmas Eve as a kid, so my mum had to implement the rule of giving me permission to open up my stocking before everyone was awake. Otherwise I'd be jumping on beds, clanking pots and pans at 6:30 AM!

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory? Hmmm... I remember trying to stay awake all night to try and catch Santa. I passed out halfway through the night, but my mum had to stay awake and wait for me to fall asleep on the couch and somehow managed to get everything set up while I was sleeping! Kudos to her!

Favourite festive food? Christmas cookies! Those count, right? My aunt makes the most delicious shortbread cookies that I always eat too much of.

Favourite Christmas gift? That's hard. I don't think there's been a gift that I haven't liked (except maybe that year my secret santa in school got me a boy's t-shirt with a tonka truck on it). So I'll say this: I love gifts that are wrapped nicely or creatively. With bows and ribbons! The kind of stuff that shows you took the time and effort into it.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? We usually just sit around watching Christmas movies, and sometimes we'll drive around at night listening to Christmas carols and looking at all the lights on the houses!

What tops your tree? A porcelain angel.

As a kid, what was one of the craziest things you always asked for but never received? I've asked for plenty, haha, but the craziest was probably when I wanted a unicorn.

What's the best thing about Christmas for you? It's almost an excuse to make spending time with your family and loved ones a priority. I know you shouldn't need one, but for so many people, they make work a priority over their loved ones. We all live such fast paced lives now, I just love sitting by the fireplace, with a brightly lit tree and a platter of Christmas treats and hot chocolate with my friends. I love baking with my mum and watching movies we've seen enough times to recite all the words. I love wrapping the presents, making sure the bows are perfect on each one. I love picking out the presents I think will be just right for each person, then seeing their faces as they open them. I don't know. I guess you could say I love everything about it.

I hope you all have a very jolly day!
